Who Dat?

Well, I must say that I was wrong about my Super Bowl prediction. And I'm really glad that I was. I'll tell you why.
First off, this game was the EXACT opposite of what I thought it was going to be. I figured the Saints would start off strong and be full of energy, since it was their first time to go to a Super Bowl. Plus, Peyton and Company aren't the best first quarter team. But the Colts started off perfect, making it 10-0 quick. After the first quarter, the Saints figured it out, cashing in on a couple of risky plays along the way. Ironically, Peyton is the one that usually figures it out and dissects a defense, but this time it was Drew Brees that took care of business. The rest of the game, the Saints outscored the Colts 31-7, and dominated the last three quarters. They hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in the end, and it was probably the best storybook ending I've ever witnessed in sports.
Four years ago, 85% of New Orleans was underwater. Many figured the Saints organization would move, considering the Superdome was used as shelter. The fact that the Saints, and even the city of New Orleans, rallied around a quarterback of a football team to give them hope and happiness is a thing of beauty. Now, I'm not a Saints fan, (Dallas Cowboys all the way in 2010) but I love to see something like this. I would've been happy for Peyton and Company if they had won, but it's so much more attractive that an underdog like this, a team full of players that no other organization wanted, come together and accomplish something this huge.
That's all for me. Very happy for the Saints and the entire city of New Orleans. No, I will not say "Who Dat", because that's all I've been hearing from everyone and it's kind of wearing me out, but I'm very happy for the organization and the city. Comments are encouraged. God bless you all.

Great hub, Donkey. I like your personal views of the Saints Super Bowl win and what it means to the city of New Orleans. It is a good story and deserves some praise. Perhaps this is a good indicator of better things to come for our struggling economic state. You're a good sportsman for you for cheering on another team. Thanks.

Hello Donkey...I hope I'm not being too forward dropping the "The" in front of Donkey...glad to meet a fellow football fan. Although it makes me sad to say we are going to be sworn enemies as I am a long time 49er fan and you are a (boo hiss) cowboy fan. Not to mention I am a tad bitter as I lost $50 on the regular season games to another cowboy fan.
However, I agree with you on this Super Bowl. What a great game! The Saints came to win and took chances I've never seen before (in a Super Bowl) to make it happen. Could you believe the on-side kick to start out the 3rd quarter! And lucky, lucky me bet on the Saints to win. Whoohoo! Of course unfortunately it was for only $10 bucks. I kicked myself senseless over that for at least a week! Especially since it was to the same person I lost the $50 to.
Whatever...
It was still a great way to end a football season.
And now on to next year and still believing that the 49ers will come back and rule the football world!
